Good Citizen's Dec 2020 4 song EP, now available - to stream, check links the top of the site.

IKR?

Blah blah been a while blah blah blah. Ok so fine, we more or less took 2021 off and we're halfway through 2022. THERE IS STUFF GOING ON, ALRIGHT?!

Anyway - we promise we're getting back to it, just happened to take a while. No new drummer, we're just gonna go 3 piece like back in the early aughts. And maybe, just maybe, we'll get some beats so that whole community will finally let us be ;) Kidding y'all, just kidding.

So here we are again and we promise we'll make some noise for you soon. First project is gathering all the singles we've done over 2019-2020 and compile those into an honest to goodness album. The theme may not be prevalent at first - but it's there. Just need to thin about sequencing and mastering the mixes into a nice consistent sound. Second project is to record some looooong overdue tunes written some years ago.

We still love you all, no exceptions, save for that one guy - you know who you are, and it's nice to be back in the world.

Carry on, my pretties.

Ahhhh June, such sweet naivete .....

Ok so June was alright. Most of July. Then we started having some problems. I was fairly sure this whole pandemic thing wasn't quite overwith, wish I had been proven wrong.

Nonetheless, stay safe, get vaccinated, wear a mask, pretend that none of this had ever been politicized and do what you know to be the right thing for yourself and those you come into contact with. This isn't difficult.

We love you all - new music soon, working out some details here and there.

June 2021. Live music is coming back.

Hoo boy - Here we are 15 months after all of this started and now we're starting to look at live music coming back. Of course, it won't look like it did before, no sweating all over each other whilst striving toward the front. No spitting into each others open mouths. Ok, maybe we got some good out of all of it ...

Nonetheless concerts are going to be a thing again. This is good for a lot of people not the least of which are the tech crews that keep everything running and make it all look and sound pretty. If you're not already aware there are a lot of people who work in this field and, while artists were able to stream and sometimes otherwise stay afloat with "live" performances, all our clubs, halls, etc. remained closed. A crew that would run lights for a stage show isn't needed for a person streaming from their closet or home studio.

As places open please remember a couple of things. 1) still be careful - we want you around for the long haul and 2) treat everyone from the person taking your ticket to the bartender to the usher to the lighting crew to the sound crew to the stage managers and everyone in between and beyond with respect.

This hurt and many of our favourite places weren't able to overcome the loss. Hold a place for them as well. There are some in this world who contend that art and entertainment aren't "work" and to them we give a hearty phhhhhht and a punch to the head. Also, just try to imagine what sort of world this would be without it.

Be good to each other. Carry on, my dudes.

Out for now.

2021 - or so you THINK

Ok, you got me. The title means nothing. nothing at all. Just seemed like something fun to write.

Nonetheless, here it is, indeed 2021. May of all fucking months. Nothing personal, May, you just kinda snuck up on me. I don't like that.

A little over a year since the first lockdowns and our little State is starting to look better. The remaining Citizens are vaccinated because - well - Good Citizens. Plus I'm really enjoying the microchip embed. Picking up some very cool radio from around the world.

We're working on learning Welsh.

There's an amazing group we just found out about - Trio Mandilli, from Georgia (the country). Check them out.

We still don't have the Spotify app but we are ON Spotify if that's your preferred way to listen. Also on the Good Doctor Tentacles playlist - a song from 2006 (?) or 2008 - I can't remember. From Up-N-Comer. Song name "Venus". Having trouble embedding the link so - just copy/paste. As I said, we don't have the service.

Getting some love from Twitter peeps. Check our feed - follow bands that we follow. Why? Because we're all in this beautiful mess together. Unless you're on that television program where they dump you in the woods to survive. Then you're on your own.

Take care of yourselves and others. I'm out of snark for the time being, tbh.

We love you all. Especially you.

Still here, still listening, still writing

It's been a while, yes. But just want everyone to know we are still writing/working/etc. We will be posting some live stuff though, stripped down - if all goes well via YouTube or something, stay tuned for details.

Overall the music doesn't stop. That's as much a testament to our fallen comrade as anything else, I would hope. We're not going anywhere, we're just a soul shy.

Anyway, this is a catch-up post. We'll throw some more real substance here a little later. After our March 12th memorial for John. Just didn't want you to think we'd forgotten or abandoned you.

Be well, stay safe and as careful as you see fit, be kind, don't be an asshole, carry on.

With peace and love. Yes, peace and love - fuck you ;)

Devastating News - Please be safe and help if you can

It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the tremendous loss of Citizen J, John Feijoo - Drummer, Father, and incredible human being - to Covid-19 on 12.25.20.

We, the Citizens, are devastated as is everyone that knew him.

Please hold a place in your heart for this good man and if you can, help his daughter out via the link below. If you can’t help, we understand, but please share. She is a good person as well as a good musician.

We love you all.

We will miss you more than you could ever know, John. There will never be another like you. Rest.

When the Hills Are A'Blaze -- Our latest YouTube Video

This little ditty is an ode to fire season. Those living around LosOra, and other parts of this great land, will know what we mean. Imagine the years as kids body surfing with fire ash falling on the swells. It's almost nostalgic, and certainly deadly. This song was originally written in 2004 and we play it every year to ourselves at Poverty Level studios as a celebration of sorts, and one we'd like to share.  See the video below.

Covid Song Cycle and everything is on Fire

We are currently working on a 4-song cycle of tunes regarding our current times. Yes, it's a Covid song cycle

Led by Citizen D - her songs and her voice.  We did some rhythm tracks yesterday and they're really good. Looking for an October release.

Also, the west coast is on fire so in that spirit please enjoy a tune from circa 2006 titled "When the Hills are A'Blaze" just added to our songs section. A rollicking jaunt of country flavor as an homage to fire season.

Be well.

Dudes ...

Ok, sure not a lot of updates cuz - Covid. HOWEVER we did do a new release, "Dogs are at the Gate" or you can precede that with "The". Check it out on any of our SM tabs at the front or right here.

It is, I think, an interesting tune and really gets to show off the musicality of the band. These folks are good, you know that already, but this allowed us to go into some deeper spaces.

Anyway, just didn't want you all to think we were just ignoring this little part of the site.

When/if the world gets back on track we'll be playing live again.

As always, death to the infidels. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Love,

Good Citizen
